In a greater sense, the dark clouds could be the fears of society today, for example, terrorism, however, the love and positive message expressed through the creative art of music could offer a way forward to connect with people and share our freedom of creative speech in an unrestricted society. On the other hand, the clouds seem to disperse ahead of the boy and could account for Imagine Dragon’s alternative pop music clearing the way forward and giving a meaning/purpose to life while eradicating problems. This could be a result of the band’s indie-rock roots, grounded human themes which would appeal to a niche audience. This could metaphorically symbolise the boy’s mindset or his worries, a bullying theme again perhaps, a clear representation of what sort of music is on the album from Imagine Dragons. The use of a young boy signifies innocence and the equilibrium of childhood, however, this is contrasted with the suffocating obscure fog and grey depressing colour pallet. The Imagine Dragons “Night Visions” album cover offers many metaphorical and symbolical interpretations and represents the band to be darker and indie, producing music that is alternative indie-rock/pop which is grounded in reality reinforced by the greyness and fog from the artwork.
